Konecranes inks deal for 25 RTGsKonecranes has signed a deal to supply a major global terminal in Colombia’s Port of Cartagena with 25 new rubber-tyred gantry cranes (RTGs).
The deal, signed in Q3 2025, also includes Konecranes retrofitting 10 of its exiting RTGs at the site as well as retrofitting a further 37 third-party RTGs with its technology at the unnamed terminal.
The new cranes will be delivered in five batches from Q4 2026 to Q1 2028.
Konecranes says the terminal, which already has two of its straddle carriers and four reachstackers, is undergoing a modernisation program so it can handle peak container flows with minimal unplanned interventions.
The RTG system will be integrated with the terminal’s existing IT and operational technology infrastructure, including networks, yard controls and remote operating stations.
The cranes will operate at high-density container stacks near the berth.
Konecranes says the Colombian terminal is a top global container terminal recognised for its container port performance, efficiency, advanced technology, connectivity and ability to handle large vessels, according to the World Bank’s and S&P Global Market Intelligence’s Container Port Performance Index 2023.
