French aerial work platform manufacturer Haulotte Group has reported a marked drop in sales for the last quarter. Consolidated sales fell 8% to EUR104 million (USD118 million), down from EUR113 million (USD126 million) in the same period last year.
Year-to-date sales fell from EUR319.9 million (USD364 million) at the end of September 2014 to EUR310.8 million (USD353 million) - a fall of 10% at constant exchange rates.
Positives in the latest results include record North American revenues, which are up 24%, while a 13% rise in the Asia Pacific also helped.
Haulotte notes that a "wait and see" attitude among major rental companies continues in Europe, leading to a 21% decline, while Latin America remains "difficult", dropping 29%.
The group's rental activity increased slightly (2%) at the end of the third quarter, and service activity confirms the trend observed in previous periods (rising 10% at constant exchange rates).
The company says strong commercial activity during the northern summer and the order book level at the end of September confirm sales growth expectations of close to 5%.
Haulotte will announce its 2015 annual results next February.
The company this year marks its 30th anniversary.
