Toyota ramps up in Brazil
Sao Paulo, Brazil

Toyota Industries Corp wants to boost forklift sales in Brazil by increasing its directly run stores, from the current three to five.
According to Nikkei, the company will open a location in the state of Minas Gerais in October, and another site in the state of Pernambuco in 2013. In addition to directly run stores, Toyota Industries has a network of 21 dealerships.
The report says Toyota Industries plans to boost forklift sales from about 3,000 units in 2011 to 8,800 in 2015. There are also plans to manufacture about 5,000 forklifts a year in Brazil with a new plant in Sao Paulo, slated to open in October 2013.

Flexi achieves sales record
Tipton, United Kingdom

Flexi Narrow Aisle says orders for its articulated forklifts in the first six months of 2012 have reached record levels, with overall sales up 60% from the same period last year.
The first Flexi articulated truck was launched in the early 1990s and, since then, over 5,000 units have been sold worldwide. Over the past five years, the Flexi range has been developed significantly and the trucks can now lift loads weighing 2.5 T and lift to heights of up to 13 m (42 ft.).

Nissan appoints Newbury
Lutterworth, United Kingdom

Nissan Forklift GB has appointed Newbury Fork Truck Centre as the central southern area dealer for its materials handling equipment.
Derek Robson, general manager for Nissan Forklift GB, says Newbury passed "very rigorous criteria" to be appointed as the forklift company's dealer.
Newbury Fork Truck Centre was established in 1978 by managing director David Hawkins. Besides Nissan equipment, the dealer also supplies equipment by Logitrans, Translift Bendi, Cesab, Ausa and Narrow Aisle.

Forklifts help build flood barriers
Prague, Czech Republic

Linde Material Handling Czech Republic supplied forklifts to help install mobile flood barriers this month as Prague remembered the 10th anniversary of the August 2002 devastating floods with an anti-flood exercise.
"It's great motivation for us to be useful in such an important event, such as training measures to preserve the health, lives and property of our fellow citizens," says Kloucek Petr, head of Linde Material Handling Rentals Czech Republic sro.
In 2002, the Czech Republic was hit by floods, which affected over one-third of the country and were the worst in 500 years. There were 17 fatalities and thousands were evacuated.
