Meijer starts work on expanding production facilityDutch forklift attachment maker Meijer Handling Solutions has started work on a major expansion of its production facilities in Wadden Sea, Netherlands as it looks to increase manufacturing of its Kooi ReachForks.
Meijer has invested more than EUR2 million (USD2.3 million) in the expansion of the new fully automated production hall which it says, will “house the next generation of machines for production”.
Kooi ReachForks allow users to adjust the fork length to match the pallet size and can be used for loading and unloading of trailers and double-deep storage of pallets in warehouses.
“Our goal is to achieve 24/7 production of our standard range Kooi ReachForks, extendable forklift fork, before the summer holidays in 2026,” Meijer states.
“In this new setup, robots will automatically feed the machining centres with raw materials, and by the end of the fully automated production process, the ReachForks will only need to be assembled and painted.”
Meijer, founded in 1921, states the expansion will strengthen its position within the market and “enhance the company’s resilience to labor shortages, while preparing it for the future of automated manufacturing”.
