Crown Equipment Corp has elected longtime company executive James Moran to its board of directors and hired Jim Mozer as senior vice president to fill Moran's former position.

Mozer was previously with the Emerson Climate Technologies business segment of St Louis, Missouri-based Emerson Electric Co.

Moran announced the changes on 19 March during a membership meeting of the Industrial Truck Association (ITA) of which he is again chairman.

Throughout his career, Moran "has been devoted to making Crown a world leader in the materials handling industry", says Jim Dicke III, Crown president. "He has personally supported many of Crown's largest customers, developed some of our company's earliest overseas offices and pioneered many of Crown's account service offerings. Jim's hard work and dedication to Crown's success have made him a force in our company and in our industry. We will be forever grateful to him for the impact he has had."

Mozer was vice president of marketing and general manager of integrated products for Emerson Climate Technologies in Sidney, Ohio. In his new role, Mozer will oversee Crown's international sales and marketing programs as well as business operations throughout the Americas and Asia Pacific regions.

Mozer's "nearly two decades of experience in engineering and sales, along with his fresh perspectives, will unquestionably help our company better serve our customers throughout the world", Dicke says.

Mozer received a master's degree from Washington University in St. Louis and a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. He is an alumnus of executive education programs at the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.

Moran has more than 20 years of tenure as a member of the ITA executive committee. He began his third term as president of ITA in January. He previously served as ITA president in 1993 and 2002.

In his remarks at the ITA meeting, Moran said: "My capacity at Crown has changed. I have relinquished my day-to-day responsibilities but still remain active in the company serving on its board of directors. It my desire to continue serving as the chairman of ITA and have the full support of Crown to do so-along with the full authority to commit company resources as needed to support the ITA. At our last (ITA) executive committee meeting, we discussed my change in responsibilities and how that would affect me continuing to serve as the chairman. It was agreed by the executive committee that I remain as chairman - especially during these times of change - to ensure a smooth transition. I appreciate the trust and support from the members of the executive committee, and I look forward to the months ahead."
