Ingmar Grabbe presented the new MEYER Profile Guided Pallet Handler, supported by Roberto Scotti and Thomas Auringer |
On Wednesday this week a selected audience of representatives of the international truck trade and key decision makers of international Beverage Logistics have been invited to the MEYER factory in Salzgitter for an official pre-release of the latest MEYER development for the pallet handling logistics - the new MEYER profile guided 2 or 1 Pallet Handler! With more than 60 years of experience, being the inventor of
Multiple Pallet Handling, MEYER has always been at the forefront when it comes to innovation and customer-oriented solutions in the beverage and mass pallet logistics.
Yet again, the
MEYER engineers have confronted themselves with present and future logistic demands in its entirety to combine all aspects of todays pallet logistics in both fleet operations, striving for a minimum Total Cost of Ownership and highest efficiency and, on the other hand, highly specialised operations with various requests for application customisation, trying to find the optimum solution of Pallet Handler for both demands.

A Record of SuccessSince the beginning of the Nineties,
MEYER has successfully offered the unique
Shaft Guided System for
Multiple Pallet Handlers, combining for the first time an optimum of operational visibility, safe working conditions, lowest life cycle cost, with a high level of efficiency and reliability - for decades the most efficient Pallet Handler design predetermined for fleet and full maintenance operations.
Besides such typical fleet operations, many applications require a specialized product, either for handling various non-standard load sizes, or to accommodate the many demands for special fork opening ranges and very often also fork spreading and opening / closing sequences.
Sometimes, trying to synergise everything into one specification, does not lead to the optimum, which turned out to be the result of the comprehensive market study, product comparison and engineering exercise that the MEYER engineers studied - just one pallet handler design simply does not optimally accomodate all demands.
The international visitors visited the MEYER factory |
Roberto Scotti, CEO and President of
BOLZONI Group, welcomed the guests in Salzgitter to the factory visit and Product presentation. During a factory tour Thomas Auringer, CEO of the company, guided the audience through the new manufacturing set-up for
Multiple Pallet Handlers and the various other products manufactured in the plant in Salzgitter.
"We are currently implementing a company-wide full LEAN Manufacturing Program", Mr. Auringer explains,
"in which we have put our main focus of the attention on setting up the optimum production process and assembly layout, being able to accommodate both the Shaft Guided and from now on also the Profile Guided Pallet Handlers in just one Production Flow Line. Our customers can make their choice according to their specific demands and we run their orders, regardless of the design, side by side. We are currently ramping up this new production set-up and are confident to further improve our lead time, on-time-delivery and quality performance to our international customers".Following the motto
'The Best for both Worlds' the visitors were presented the current and new Pallet Handler design: Ingmar Grabbe, Product Manager Beverage Logistics, explains the advantages of the two product lines and highlighted the benefits and unique features of the new Profile Guided Pallet Handler Concept:
"From day one of the project our interdisciplinary Project Team worked very closely together to integrate the various demands of the market, new Production and Supply Chain processes, and particularly also the After Sales requirements into the design. We went through several iterative cycles and are very satisfied with the outcome we are now able to present to the market".Introducing a new Concept of Profile-guided Pallet Handler ... and its new companion: the all new MEYER Profile Guided Pallet Handler |
The new Profile Guided Pallet Handler stands out in many aspects: the chassis and arm design underwent an extremely demanding cycle test with a test load twice the nominal load that it is designed for.
"We stopped after we surpassed 1 Million cycles, because the unit simply didn't show any defects, so we are very confident we are presenting an extremely robust design" Ingmar Grabbe proudly continues. Next to its robustness the new design embodies the typical product advantages that
MEYER Pallet Handlers are well appreciated for: cleanliness in operation, fast operating speed with equal fork travel, and an optimum of visibility on all operation levels.
Mr. Grabbe explains further:
"With this new design concept we were able to almost eliminate all wearing components. The existing components have extremely long-life expectancy and can be exchanged within a few minutes. Together with the Technical University of Clausthal-Zellerfeld in Germany we investigated a state-of-the-art plastic insert, which combines robustness and long-life with high self-lubricating characteristics"."At the beginning we tried to combine all requirements into just one product line, but we decided differently", summarizes Mr. Auringer,
"as the experience of many years clearly showed that, for example, a mix of shaft and profile guide system, to be able to customize a Pallet Handler to all needs worldwide, simply did not deliver the optimum features that, for example, our unique Shaft Guide Concept delivers in Fleet Operations and, again, for non-standard operations, on the other hand, our dedicated Profile System allows to achieve the optimum results and highest flexibility - so we decided; "The Best for both Worlds!".Please contact: MEYER GmbH
