Next Tuesday is National Forklift Safety Day on both sides of the Atlantic, for the second year in a row.
It's no small achievement that the day is marked simultaneously in two significant markets which, until recently, highlighted safety at different times of the year. It would be even better if other markets, notably Europe, designated the same day for a unified effort to raise safety standards throughout.
In the US, the focus this year is on "the safe use of forklifts, the value of operator training, and the need for daily equipment checks".
Meanwhile, in the UK, Safety Day is dedicated to raising awareness of "safe maintenance practices and the importance of Thorough Examination".
Not to confuse the messaging, we'd like to draw attention to the need for increased forklift safety awareness throughout all organisations - not just among those who operate the equipment. That's the central message in this week's
Safety First blog.
And remember, let's be safe out there - on June 8 and every day!
