Fast, efficient mobile weigh selections will increase profit but be mindful of harsh environments.

Recycling industries require the most robust equipment available, standard products can easily be destroyed due to collision impact and heavy clashing of steel. A new system especially designed to resist this kind of damage replaces all vulnerable surfaces with heavy gauge steel plating.

It is important for efficiency to incorporate electronic aides to relieve the operator of unnecessary functions so that the basic operation can be performed unimpeded. Scrap can be moved with many types of mobile equipment efficiently but why not include weighing in this process
There is an explanation of the systems available for the following equipment.A weighing system with aiders such as wireless transmission, data collection, printer, overload signals are all achievable regardless of the type or style of mobile equipment.

A typical scenario utilizing weigh scales

Incoming materials (scrap etc.) can be weighed during the unloading without unnecessary trips to a floor scale, discrepancies noted at the time of unloading is crucial to establish discrepancies. This saves time and expense.

Subsequent batching or processing of materials often involves the use of pallet jack, electric walkie or lift truck, any of these can be scale equipped so that short falls, overloads and general records of product flow is readily automatically tracked. This is a good start to automate your process.

The shipping department can now validate the exact product shipping weights. Truck loading requires weight tracking for several important reasons. To even loading is crucial for safe conveyance. Highway truck fines for overloads can be expensive (just a few miscalculated loads could pay the cost of the scale.)

LIFT TRUCK - General Purpose Hydraulic Sensed Scale

The most affordable yet rugged scale is the hydraulically sensed system that measures the hydraulic pressure from the lift cylinder. This type of system has been much improved over the years and now competes with more elaborate systems. Especially useful for freight weights, safe loading and a good weight estimates by far the best choice if accuracy not the main criteria. Quote WP92022 load check. - It is not legal for trade

LIFT TRUCK - Middle Accuracy Leaf Chain System

(a must for complicated carriage trucks and clamp accessories)
This system is unobtrusively placed behind the carriage so it's out of harm's way it. It is quite accurate and doesn't downrate the forklift capacity. The weight sensing is performed by sensors inserted into the 1st stage chain. The weight signal is transmitted either by cable less wireless or hardwired. Great for scrap metal weighing but not certified legal for trade. Quote WP92021 leaf chain system. - It is not legal for trade

LIFT TRUCK - The Fork Sensed System is Very Accurate and Available Legal for Trade.

The system comprises sensed forks that simply click onto a carriage for recycling industries only the reinforced system should be contemplated otherwise expect unwelcomed serving downtime.

The system has many optimal fork style, especially suited for custom applications quote fork sensed (too many models to list) - available legal for trade

Scales for Electric Walkies and Walkie Rider Trucks

Here again the much improved hydraulic scale solution prevails.

Very low cost, reasonable accuracy makes this a good choice for production weighing processes not legal for trade. Quote model WP92032.

If greater accuracy is required there is a loadcell solution but unfortunately the lowered height of the walkie is increased by about 1/3 "making standard pallet entry difficult however great for skids and raised leg containers (at least 3 3/4" or higher clearance is needed) Quote model WP92031. - not legal for trade

The walkie truck scale kits are retrofit that fit onto your existing truck.
However Weigh Point recently introduced a special walkie truck and scale kit that accurately weighs even utilizing standad pallets.

Hand Pallet Trucks with scales are readily available, good accuracy.
Quote Palletronic. - Not legal for trade

The Front End Loader Scales comes either sophisticated or simple bare bones. The elaborate models are computerized and weigh on the move instead of stopping the bucket for 5-10 seconds to perform the weigh function. There are legal for trade models however a simple system is just as accurate as the more elaborate type. Quote WP92029. - not legal for trade.

Here's an interesting comparison:
Our $2500.00 front end loader scale
Has the same accuracy as a $13000.00 legal for trade system.
