BYD's battery production facility now has six Apex 2000 autonomous forkliftsChinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD has added a fleet of ForwardX autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) and autonomous forklifts to its battery production line.
BYD's ForwardX fleet is made up of nine Max 1500-L Slim AMRs and six Apex 2000 autonomous forklifts.
The forklifts have forks of 2.4 m and operate across 15,000 sq.m to 16,000 sq.m.
The automation technology has transformed workflows within the facility.
With the automated system, line-side operators initiate material requests through handheld personal digital assistants, triggering real-time prompts on intelligent dashboards for warehouse personnel.
Materials are then prepared and dispatched to designated workstations, where Max AMRs and Apex forklifts autonomously navigate to complete tasks.
BYD and ForwardX say they expect more ground-breaking innovations to arise from their collaboration in the future.
