Toyota wins award
Leeds, United KingdomToyota Material Handling UK has won the ASDA Retail Store Services' Supplier of the Year award for 2011.
ASDA spokeswoman Sally Wade says Toyota UK was recognised for its "innovation, commitment and willingness to work in partnership with ASDA Retail Store Services in driving down costs".
ASDA is the UK's second-largest supermarket chain by marketshare after Tesco. In 1999, it became a subsidiary of American retail giant Walmart.

The forklift supplier's research shows that a sudden increase in workload can cause a disproportionate rise in forklift-related incidents.

Hangzhou, ChinaNingbo Ruyi Joint Stock Co Ltd has held a speech competition based on "6S" management principles consisting of five Japanese words: seiri, seiton, seiso, seiketsu, shitsuke and security.
The company says the participants made passionate speeches and showed their determination in carrying out the principles in their work.
The "6S" management concept, derived from Hiroyuki Hirano's "5S" workplace organisation methodology, is all about eliminating waste and maximising value-added work.
Hoppecke guide on battery top-up

According to Hoppecke, the largest cause of early failure of lead acid batteries is overtopping or undertopping them. "Not only is topping up one of the biggest problems with using batteries but it is also one of the most common reasons battery companies will not honour a warranty," the guide says.
