Time to get back to the basics. Check compression, timing, etc. If everything checks out I'd pull the valve cover off & make sure #1 cylinder is actually on TDC when the pointer on the front pulley indicates that the crank's at TDC. Remote chance the timing chain is stretched & jumped a tooth.
Also- how far will the spark jump when cranking if you hold the ignition wire close to the cyl head & what's it's color?
Rebuilt mixer today.Getting fuel and firing ,still will not run.Anyone got any suggestions on which way to go now?
Has not been backfiring but has been hard to start. Engine has been spinning over a lot. I sent you the pictures by email of the mixer.
A rebuild kit is available for the mixer. Send me a pic so I can tell you what mixer you have & give you a part #. Has engine been backfiring recently? I've never seen a cracked mixer piston.
Replaced the solenoid over by the regulator because the wire was broken so close that I could not repair it.
Engine turns but will not run..getting fire to the plugs. Took mixer apart and found a crack in the piston looking thing. Can you get a rebuild kit for this thing?
What solenoid did you replace? Did you take out all the plugs and lay them on the head and check how they spark? Maybe try a little squirt of gas in the carb and see if it fires to make sure the ignition system is ok.
will not crank means - nothing at all happens when you turn the key
will not start means - turn key, starter turns on and turns motor but it won't start
