What solenoid did you replace? Did you take out all the plugs and lay them on the head and check how they spark? Maybe try a little squirt of gas in the carb and see if it fires to make sure the ignition system is ok.
will not crank means - nothing at all happens when you turn the key
will not start means - turn key, starter turns on and turns motor but it won't start
