Discussion:
Erratic Steering

One of our units has developed a strange habit. When forks first is selected... the direction indicator/pointer LCD on the dash... the little arrow moves smoothly around the clock face while one is steering, then suddenly jumps from "4 oclock" to "9oclock " so to speak and the machine suddenly reverses unexpectedly?
When cab first is selected the arrow moves smoothly around the dial and it transitions normally/smoothly from forward to reverse as per normal??

Thanks for the tip! Once I got the old switch out, it was obvious it had been used a little "harshly". Although I guess it was the original. 11,000 hours of flipping back and forth takes its' toll.

A good test for checking the direction switch is.

With the truck switched on & your sitting on the seat, select a direction, press & hold down deadman pedal, briefly press the accelerator pedal to release the parking brake & then see if the truck will try & creep away uncommanded.

After a few seconds flick the direction switch to the other direction & see if it will creep away in the other direction uncommanded.

Fact of the week
According to studies published in the English Journal of Medicine, the impact of daylight savings is revealed by a 24% increase in heart attacks on the Monday following the spring shift forward. When clocks move back in autumn, heart attacks drop by about 21%, suggesting that loss of sleep is an important driver.
