Discussion:
Does the domain name matter?

We were planning to create a website for our business, so we were looking for a domain name. We stumbled upon two potential domains (forkliftsolutions.biz) or (forklift.solutions). We were leaning towards forklift.solutions, but forklift.solutions is in a auction at sedo.com. The current offer is 500 dollars and it may go even higher, we fear it will. Our budget for the domain, is max 2000 dollars. What do you guys think? Is it overkill? Should we we go with the much cheaper BIZ domain? Does the domain name matter in our industry? Does the client even care about stuff like that?

Of course, Domain name matters. It plays vital role not only according to user behavior but also according to search engine optimization. SEO is really necessary now a days.

consider using an underscore "forklift_solutions". I would say you are better off having more than 1 name and closing up the possible confusion between dot com and dot net and dot biz, should your website become a successful portal to your business. maybe also FLSOL.com. as the less typing the better.

"it's not rocket surgery"
Thanks for the good advice:) No the business name is not decided yet. We did think about Forklift Solutions as the name. But i guess that the word solutions is not a must, and the biz domains does look cheap. We will try to find something that looks better than the.biz but are cheaper than the.solutions , if it is possible. Again thanks for the help.

I think, that the dedicated domain is important. It shows, if you are a serious company, acquainted with the new technologies, ready to invest some money in internet sales channels. Specially, when you are active in high technology (like modern forklifts).
When I am looking for some support concerning high-tech I usually choose the company with the domain.
In my opinion the domain name should be/include the company name. Is your company name Forklift Solutions?
Why biz domain? Why not simply.se or.com? It's definitely cheaper.
When you google for something, you look for the product, very rarely for the company name, or domain.
Just choose some keywords (like forklift sales, Toyota service, forklift parts) and use them to position your company in search engines.
