Discussion:
Brake shoe damage repeating

Having an issue on the right side brakes (dry brakes) where the brake shoe rests on the hold down pin is being forced into the pin bending the shoe up badly. Causing the wheel cylinder to leak fluid out resulting in loss of brakes. This is the left shoe on the right side. Brakes have been replaced I believe 2 times and this is the 3rd time this has happened. New park brake cables, wheel cylinders, hardware and shoes. Just curious if anyone has seen anything like this id like to fix this sob lol thanks for anyone that looks or inputs

sounds to me like a cracked backing plate allowing flexing.
use the eyeball closely between areas like the area where the wheel cylinder bolts up

the shoe that is being damaged
is it the one where the cable hooks at the top, then wraps around a pin and cable sheave piece and then hooks to the adjuster at the bottom?
could it be the adjuster is getting out of adjustment causing the cable to pull the shoe out and bending it from the wrong angle of pressure being applied when it is out of alignment?

I recently had a glc50 do the same thing- a first for me. I did notice that the brake adjustment was way off prior to the brake rebuild. The symptom was weird- the brakes would lock as if the shoes were sticky-took brakes apart & brakes were dry but found the bent up shoes as you mention- I wrote it off as an adjustment issue- perhaps I was wrong?
