I have a similar occurrence on an SC4020-35. When attempting fwd. or rev. the unit moves about an inch or two and then stops and either code 66 or 68 appears. Any ideas!

Never too old or too experienced to learn more.
sc4000
Code 66 - Field fet exceeded expected current limit
Code 68 - PMT enable signal from slave controller to master controller went below 5vdc.

seeing as how you can drive in reverse i would guess you have lost a transistor for fwd. and since the slave is dropping enable it is more than likely in the slave controller.
