Discussion:
Labor Rate

To all forklift technicians. What is your advertised hourly labor rate. I am an independent in the Chicago land area and my rate is $82.00 per hour. I charge a flat rate travel charge for service calls of 1 hour labor. Looking for dealer and independent rates. I am curious how I am stacking up with the local competition.

When I worked for dealer in Atlanta area. We would be periodically asked by the owner periodically to call the service departments of our competitors & survey things like standard/published service labor rates, PM, rental rates, etc. We played "I'll show you mine if you show me yours" and you know what? Nobody said no as often we were their customers for service parts, rentals 9we didn't have, etc. They want the same information - so make you sure you give them your info. Competitors are not mean folks. Hints: 1.) don't necessarily talk to the Service Manager, unless you know them they are occasionally "secretive"; 2. do offer your info first helps reduce resistance.

Oh, I was in sales when I did it & if a sale type can do it any one can!

Fact of the week
The dot-com bubble, a period of large and rapid investments in internet-based companies, peaked in 2000 and saw the Nasdaq Composite index rise by 579%. Then the bubble imploded. As the value of tech stocks plummeted, cash-strapped internet start-ups became worthless and collapsed.
