Discussion:
Question about lift truck weight

I'm in the process of purchasing a new Dock plate at our plant, but with a slight problem. The biggest lift that we have is an Allis Chalmers F100242PS. I don't know haow much it weighs and I'm sure the company wants to pay as little as possible. There hasn't been a maintenance guy in this building for about 10 years, so do you think I could find a manual on this lift? Of course not. I'm guessing it is about 5 tons?? I'd rather have a dock plate much greater than needed rather than not enough. But I need a ball figure to start from. Any Help?? Any info would be great.

chuck:

ssbtractor.com may have a manual for your AC F100 forklift

Google: Allis Chalmers F100 for other possible sources.

The size of the counterweight equals the capacity. Therefore, a 10,000 lb forklift has a counterweight weighing 10000 lbs. The weight of a forklift equals approxiamtely double the capacity. Therefore a 10,000 lb capacity forklift would weigh approximately 20,000 pounds, approximately. Then don't forget to add the weight of the materials being hauled around, plus the operator and the cylinder.

Google: ALLIS CHALMERS F100242PS

A unit from a previous auction is listed by passyauctions.com as 10,000 pounds (lifting capacity). Actual truck weight is most likely something over 5 tons.
