mitsi fg15 fusebox

i have a wee problem in a mitsi fg15. randomly blows the top fuse in the dash fusebox. yes it,s for the transmission solenoid valve and reverse lights. but they all test out good. all wiring tests are good. does this fuse feed anything else gents. all contributions welcome. as i say fuse blows randomly ,it can be ok for days then blow 2 fuses and be ok again without lifting the bonnet. local works engineer just kept popping new fuses in. nightmare

Hi kevin these type of faults can be a nightmare, what i would normally do is try to eliminate things then leave on test, can u not put the rear lights on a seperate fuse as a temp measure,or swop the solenoids and see if the fault transfers, good luck herald.

what year is this truck?
assuming its basically the same as the US model
on older units with sol valves that fuse only feeds the FnR lever and the solenoids
the rev light is a switch

new units (late 90s)

it only powers the solenoids and the backup light relay coil (which is mounted to the inside of the dash cover) through the FnR lever
so since the relay is dead you get no reverse lights
the actual reverse lights are on the fuse thats second from the top
also the book lists the reverse bulbs as 10w

check the wires up to the FnR lever and the lever itself
does the lever have a small red tab that locks it in neutral?
also check for chaffed harnesses from the dash (green plug)

New York, New York its a heluva town..you know that The Bronx is up..and I'm Brooklyn down
I think you got a rough wire in the OHG, for the rev light circuit.
has anyone drilled into the OHG? mounted a fire extinguisher to one leg?
pinched the wire harness when putting back the lite assy.?

hows damo? i was at the thing for 3 hours today and it blew fuse once when i dropped into reverse. i thought great , dead short , easy find. tested solenoid 5 ohms resistance both coils. traced wiring from fuse into a light brown wire under the dash that was showing a bit of resistance. pulled the bulbs on reverse lights, brown wire went open circuit.only thing i thought about was 1 bulb was a 5watt and the other side was 21watt ?.replaced 21watt with another 5 watt and plugged everything back in. all worked fine. run ammeter across fuse and found draw to be around 3 amps forward and just over 4 in reverse.panels back on and belted round the place for 20 mins ,all good so heres hoping

Fact of the week
Foundling hatches are safe, anonymous drop-off points for unwanted infants, allowing parents in crisis a way to surrender a baby safely without fear of punishment, ensuring the child is rescued and cared for. The concept started in the 12th century, was abandoned in the late 19th century, then reintroduced in 1952. It has since been adopted in many countries.
