Discussion:
Won't Reach In

Looking at a Linde R20 S/N G1X113K01760 - 1999

Hydraulic valve solenoid for reach out function is becoming powered (and consequently opening spool for reach out) when hydraulic lever is pulled, irrespective of which lever is pulled. As a consequence the reach carriage wants to remain permanently reached out.

We've swapped the levers, remains the same.
Swapped the coils on the reach valve front to back, makes no difference.
Checked the valve block assembly and can't find fault.
Swapped the outlet pipes to reach cylinder and the fault reverses (i.e. will want to reach in all the time).
Swapped the Hydraulic Control module, remains the same.
All wiring looks in good order with no signs of chafing or damage.
Only fault codes showing are 2, 3 & 9 which all disappear when drive engaged.

Anybody got any ideas, anybody come across this before ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Service life of a forklift is proportional to how well it is maintained.

A quick follow up on this post.....
Lindetech, spot on, damaged wiring loom that would never have been found simply by visually inspecting. Had to cut out the hosing covering the wiring loom and then found wires chaffed and short circuiting inside. A very kind thanks to a Forklift Action member for sending us the wiring diagram. Problem solved.

Hi Lindetech, thanks for your input. We have 4 separate levers all the same part number, swapping levers around doesn't make a difference to the fault.

Reference wiring fault, without a wiring diagram it's difficult to understand exactly what should be happening with the circuit, but i think the engineer was saying as soon as any lever is pulled, all of the valve solenoids get 48v supply (don't know if thats correct or not), but guess then the solenoids are switched via the return. Will check further tomorrow.

Sounds like you may have a wiring issue in the harness from chassis to the reach carriage.
Also check the short harness to the valve assembly
What joysticks do you have?
4 individual or 2 that move fwd/back /left/right
