Discussion:
Splitting tranny from engine?

Trying to split the engine from the tranny in a early 90s FG25T-11. All the bolts seem out, I unbolted the converter from the flexplate, and the engine seems glued to the tranny. Checked carefully for missed bolts, and I do see what appears to be two locating pins. Are there any strange fasteners to look for? I squirted penetrating oil on the seam yesterday, so hopefully some movement tonight.

Ok, got the engine out.is there a trick to removing the torque converter? Other machines I've worked on the tc just pops out, but not this one.

Thanks - I'll try again tonight, but I'm sure I found all the bolts.

Very basic trans/engine combo- There are bolts about every 4-6" around the entire bell housing so make sure they're all out. Usually the bottom of the engine/bell housing will start to separate on it's own as the bolts are removed.

There are 2 locating dowels -one on each side- but I've never had an issue with them.

Make sure to support under the trans's bell housing as it will pivot downward with the engine removed.
