Speed select

Hi guys, just gained a 1985 crown walker stacker it's model mt 10 but reckon it's same as 20 mt control wise.
Low speed is fine fwd and reverse but when high speed is selected and the twist grip gets past first click she stop dead but seems to be trying to move slightly. Does anyone have any info please? Ideally a service manual but...
Thanks in advance.
