Discussion:
Seat switch/ seat belt operation wiring

Greetings All,
Hyster Model H60FT
Serial number P176V09660S
Engine PSI 2.4 LITER
Recently an existing customer had me take over a new (to me) location.
He asked me to bring a generic seat with a seat switch to install on this machine. When I got there I found what appeared to be an after market seat belt with wires that have never been hooked up. There was a harness and plug, with I think 4 wires, for the seat belt had been cut. I assumed that it had been bypassed elsewhere.
The original seat switch harness had 4 wires and my new seat only had 2. I though I had it figured out but it is a no go on hydraulics. I get a hydraulic interloc code on the dash, sorry I didn't take a picture.
Thanks for any help

you have to put a resistor across the seat switch wires to use an aftermarket seat. The truck either needs to see the switch fully closed and a resistance when the switch is open. Not switch fully closed and fully open

Steve,

The newer the lift the more safety features installed. The seat switch on most lifts over the past 10 to 15 years has 3 to 4 wires. The lift will not operate correctly unless all wires are connected. The hydraulic lockout is a solenoid at the valve that will not release unless someone is sitting in the seat. Looking up the seat, I see a full suspension seat without seat belt interlock. Hope this helps.

The hard to do we do right away. The impossible just takes a little longer.
