The newer the lift the more safety features installed. The seat switch on most lifts over the past 10 to 15 years has 3 to 4 wires. The lift will not operate correctly unless all wires are connected. The hydraulic lockout is a solenoid at the valve that will not release unless someone is sitting in the seat. Looking up the seat, I see a full suspension seat without seat belt interlock.
