hi KBlackPronto,

a cooler range thermostat may help

But... in some cases engines are designed to run around the 195 deg temp range. If you are having an overtemp issue with the engine though, try the lower range thermostat, if that does not help i would verify that the water pump is circulating coolant in the radiator, sometimes poor circulation can cause overheating due to a worn out water pump. Also make sure the radiator flew's are clear and no buildup of anything on them. Bad airflow and even foreign material built up on the flews can act as a inhibitor preventing the radiator from dissipating heat correctly.

One other thing to consider and is often overlooked, are the cooling ports in the engine open and clear, it is difficult to check this because of the bypass circuit in the cooling system at the waterpump. You can try doing a cooling system clean out by flushing out the system with a cooling system cleaner.
If all of the above still doesnt help and it still has a tendency to overheat there are cooling system addetives you can put in the coolant to help keep it cool, we use what is called 'enginkool' and also change the coolant to dexcool.
Another alternative is using a regular extended life coolant (not as good as dexcool but does help in some cases), but i would definatly get some of that 'enginkool' addetive, it works wonders with stubborn overheating problems.
