Well, I see now what is causing the -16 to show in the thread title, you apparently clicked on the -16 topics when looking for a place to post your thread.
Are you still unable to connect to the diagnostic link?
Getting into the ECM may shed some light on the problem if you can get the active DTCs to display (if any are present).
APPS issues almost NEVER cause the MIL to light because it is the very nature of the work the APPS does that requires the ECM to tolerate "changes or variances" in the voltage signal from the APPS.
I believe that is why there are 2 separate windings in both the APPS and the throttle position sensors, so the ECM can compare the signals and decide if an abnormal signal is being sent.
Even with 2 signals, the ECM must be tolerant of slight deviations or else the MIL would be on all the time.
More than a few times, I have had to relearn new APPS pots 2 or more times using our Hitachi service tool before the ECM becomes educated. Other forum members have indicated that sometimes the learn is not as simple or as quick as a manual would lead you to think it is.
If you do not have the pot set to the correct position when you attempt to do the learn, that can affect the learning too.
