equalize is a slow charge (about 36 hours i believe) if he uses it everyday its probably not fully charged running the equalize every other day
running the battery with a crap charge can heat components
have him change his charging habits

equalize should be run once a month on a light duty shift
batteries should be used for a single 8 hour shift then charged 8 hours then allowed to cool an additional 8 hours
if he is running multiple shifts on a single charge or charging it several times a day (lunch breaks etc) that could cause this
also pushing (bulldozing) pallets along the ground can overheat the machine

you have to rule out the "steering wheel actuator" in cases like this
