If it is the transmission light that is on it could be something as simple as a wire off of the temp sending unit on the transmission,check it over and see if you see any wires not on where they should be,this could be the same for the temp sending unit for the coolant temperature. Some trucks ive seen have just a single wire trans temp sending unit and it gets knocked off. I would check the temperature of the coolant when the light is on and also the transmission to see where your problem is,a operators manual or service manual should tell you which light is which.
