We currently own a used 2001 S50XM with Mazda engine. Went to top up the trans and saw currently installed fluid is red in color (presumably ATF). My understanding is that this truck requires J20C or equivalent. Is there ANY situation where red fluid would be correct in this trans? (trans rebuild with different friction material?) Or is this dead wrong? My thought is to flush and replace with J20C. Any input would be appreciated.
