Hello,

I have this Hyundai with the 2.4l dohc engine. it has about 14000 hrs on it.
problem is that the timing belt has broken 3 times now.
1st time was original belt, ended up with bent valves, had head rebuilt.

Replaced belt and it broke at idle after 14hrs of service. No bent valves.
Replaced belt, both sprockets, and it lasted 19 hours and broke again.
Motor turns freely, the cams rotate freely.
Just baffled as to why this belt breaks like this.
Seems as though something may be jamming in the engine causing the belt to break.
has anyone experienced this issue out there?

Fact of the week
According to studies published in the English Journal of Medicine, the impact of daylight savings is revealed by a 24% increase in heart attacks on the Monday following the spring shift forward. When clocks move back in autumn, heart attacks drop by about 21%, suggesting that loss of sleep is an important driver.
