Discussion:
Poor Acceleration

Unit starts fine, will hardly accelerate until you activate a hydraulic function. As long as the hydraulics are being used unit will accelerate fine, once you let off of a lever, back to poor acceleration, will hardly pull itself.

Any thoughts?

Pump mounts directly to the engine.

Thanks

Lenny,

Not able to find any information on your truck. Does the hydraulic pump mount directly to the engine or driven with a drive shaft? I would try to isolate the hydraulic pump from the engine and see if anything changes with the throttle. Will keep looking for info. Thanks.

The hard to do we do right away. The impossible just takes a little longer.
Check the general items, coolant level, wire harness connections, fuses. Try entering the number 55555 into the display and see if it gives you access. Good Luck.

Thanks for that. One minor problem, we bought it at auction and are shut out of the system. Probably have to check sensor by sensor.

Lenny75,

Since your lift is older, I do not know if you have the same programming in the engine or not. I will look a little deeper and see what I can find. If you can, check and see if the engine has any codes stored. Thanks.

JonoG,

You have a CUMMINS 3.3 engine in your lift. Need to check and see what codes you may have stored in the ECM. If you are having the same problem, the CUMMINS engine has an acceleration mode that will raise the RPM whenever the hydraulics are activated. If you have no other acceleration other than hydraulic functions, you have code stating what sensor has failed. Thanks.

Lenny,

How old is this unit, serial#? Since it will accelerate with hydraulics activated, suspect hydraulics are loading engine through the pump attachment. Once hydraulics are activated, load is relieved and engine runs fine. When engine starts do you here a strain on the hyd. pump? Once I have the serial number can assist further. Thanks.

I'm wondering about the transmission fluid, if it's the right viscosity, but I'm an electronics tech not a mechanic. Maybe someone could shed some light on this.
