Refilled system with 50/50 coolant but truck still overheating? I'm going to pressure test in morning to see how system is? Rad is in good condition as are pipes? Am I missing something? Back in the olden days we used to say that a clogged radiator with insufficient flow of coolant through the tubes would cause visible collapsing of the lower radiator hose (due to cavitation suction on the inlet pipe of the water pump).
I doubt that would apply now that the newer applications utilize a blending thermostat situated in the lower hose.

Took the radiator in for pressure testing and found the core had collapsed. I took some advice from a friend who said if i could poor water through with the bottom hose off and the water came through well the rad was GOOD! How wrong he was! Just go's to show you cant beat a good pressure test.

Thanks for reply Kev t. The rad was blocked up with dust, I blew it out with an air line and replaced the water pump as this was on its way out. However i'm still having issues with the overheating but not as often now. The gearbox was covered with about 2" of dust i have cleaned the dust of, i'm guessing that could of been a major factor in the overheating as the radiator has oil cooling built into it. the fan belt is at the correct tension, head gasket looks fine but am going to do a compression test next just to eliminate that but i can't see any tell tale signs of the gasket failing?

Possible head gasket issue???Do a compression check and see what that shows....Fan belt tight and not slipping on the pulley? Radiator not plugged with dust, dirt, debris???
