Discussion:
no spark

Hello all, Im new to the forum. I have a hyster h60xm with no spark. It has a g.m. 3.0 liter. I changed the ignition module in the distributer and I changed the coil. I get power at both sides of the e.c.m. fuse. Does anyone have any suggestions for me to look next? There is a control module on the left side of the frame (part # 1384829), what does this module control? Thanks.

edward t, good advise. elect fault in harness caused by moisture, chafing and cement dust. i sublet the job to a much capable L.I. based tech who made short work of putting hyster back into daily service. justinm ,thanks for prompt response and for not changing out a million $$$$ worth of electronic parts trying to figure it out. we will keep you in the rolladex. mike aloris

the controller on the side is the ECM (engine control module)
you can bring stored codes up on the check engine light but this may be too advanced for you based on your post (no offense)

like edward said pay a guy who knows the system and has the info

btw where in NY are you? im on long island
if you need help and youre close by i may be your man

this is one that you might want training for, (or pay someone who is both properly trained and has the laptop program and cables, and knows how to read it) since your problem may be any of the (important to prevent damage) sensors that connect to the ECM, and the ECM is shutting down the motor to prevent further damage, rather than run on "defaults" (the Accel pot being stuck wide open or the throttle body sending a bad signal are a couple that come to mind)
