Discussion:
Load Wheel Axle Pins

Simple question here folks... Anyone else have an issue with the Crown (part number 060000-051) roll pins shearing? I have 17 RD's in my fleet with 6" load wheels. The most common "pit stop" repair is axle pins. Easy fix but drivs me crazy! Aftermarket roll pins better? I normally try to stay OE with most parts but for a $0.38 pin, too much time getting wasted!

...and yes the load wheels are properly shimmed.

Thanks!

It's all just nuts n' bolts.

I just got a chance to check what pin 060000-081 was... I like that idea! The rolled coil pin rather than the stock spring pin. I have some 081's in my cabinet. I'll give that a try. They hold up well on the PE's...

Thanks!

Yes, Side plates, Pivot sleeve/bushing, axles, load wheels and bearings plus flatwasher shims all get replaced when they are worn/bad. Roll pins just seem to prematurely crumble and fail.

Hopefully you're also changing
065084-015 bearings
111858-002 bush
And sometimes the plates themselves,
I use the roll pin 060000-081 but they can also break, plastic also does not help.
