so you mean the fuel sensor on the injector pump was faulty?
did they not replace this when they repaired the pump?

Traced the problem to the sensor on the injector!!! This tells the pump how much fuel to provide but also the turbo wasn't working... All sorted now!!
What's the oil pressure? Check w/ engine cold & then again warm- checking to see if #1) low pressure overall & #2)- if pressure drops dramatically once engine warm.

my first thoughts would be a rod or main knocking.
you can try to isolate any external parts like the alternator or anything else driven outside the engine by disconnecting it, removing belts etc and run the engine to see if the knock persists.
there also is a tool you can get called a stethoscope (for technicians) that has a needle on the end of it and listen to different parts of the engine to see if you can locate the source that way.
try cracking the injector lines while running and listen for the most noticable change and that may tell you if it is a rod knocking and which cylinder it is on.
other than that i'm not sure what else to tell you other than tearing the engine apart and looking for damaged parts, bearings etc.

ok, well the reason i suggested a compression test is to see just what kind of compression you have. The engine may start up and run but you could have a ring problem causing the blue smoke. There may be a slight loss of compression because of that.
But even if the compression is good, the blue smoke is a sign of oil comsumption , oil bypassing the oil ring on the pistons. It also could be oil being sucked in through a pcv valve or even getting sucked in through the oil seal in the turbo if this is a turbo diesel.
Have you had to add engine oil to it more regularly than normal since this started happening?
Yes it had the problem before and no we haven't tested the compression yet! It starts ok!
Was it doing this before you had inj pump & injectors repaired?
Also have you taken a cylinder compression test on all cylinders?
