I recently was troubleshooting a code 314 dealing with ECR one and ECR two.
In analyzer the encoders seem to be counting the motors rpm.
I heard a dragging noise and thought maybe one of the brakes was messed up.
I removed left and right brake. Friction disc okay.
Have 5.6 ohms on each coil.
Reinstalled the brakes after cleaning.
I mistakenly put the left brake on the right and the right brake on the left.
I swapped out the two plugs so the connectors would fit instead of taking the brakes off again.
Question is , is there any difference between the left brake and the right brake besides the connectors. Thanks

I have had 15 to 20 code 314 calls on RC5500 trucks. It is always the access 3 module. Replace it, download software update and recalibrate the truck.
I too am diagnosing a 314 event code with all the same symptoms RC 5500 have been through all diagnostic testing but have RPMs analyzer menu... questions canECR1&ECR2 still be bad with RPMs on analyzer menu. Can they be removed and replaced without pulling a quad mast?
oh ok, then you're good. Blue wire left, and orange wire right would mean your 3.4 setting of F26 is correct. (setting is based off what brake you have on the right.) message back once updated. Id like to hear if access3 was the cause
Correction, the right side brake has orange wires while the left brake that was replaced has blue on both the old and new. So which one is it suppose to have? All the trucks we have of this model show the 3.4 ohm in F26.
Same here in regards to the ECRs. I was going to try and update the software but our copy expired on 10/25/2020. We're waiting for Crown to come by and update the laptop.
Since ECR 1 and 2 were actually counting in analyzer I figured they were good. I swapped out access three from a known good truck and reloaded the software. The truck ran with no codes. Ordered access three
BigAl88246 : As long as both brakes have the same resistance, theoretically it shouldn't cause a problem. However, I've never tried so cant be sure. To save time in the future, remove inner plastic caps, if a brake has failed, the cap will have a strong odor
F26 set to 3.4 ohm is for trucks equipped with orange wire right side brakes (new version). If the right brake on your truck has blue wires, then you'll need the 5.4? 5.6? ohm setting, sorry cant remember the exact number.
Both have blue wires. The P/N that comes up under Features F26 is 5690-34, 3.4 ohm.
Does the new brake you installed have blue or orange wires? and what about the original one
Curious about your code 314. I'm working on a 5500 with the same code and had a burning brake on the left side motor. Went through the troubleshooting guide but everything is checking out fine. Replaced the bad brake assembly and all seemed well on the test drive until the code popped up again. When watching the analyzer for the ECR1 and 2 I noticed that the left motor brake will apply when the code pops up but not the right side as it seems to freewheel to a stop. What did you finally come up with for the solution to the 314?
I asked a Crown tech that one time when I had the other brake in stock but not the one I needed, he said that there were internal differences and wouldn't work. It may run a while but not as a permanent fix. I never tried it. Let me know if it works. Matt
