The valve is internal, At the bottom of the chrome rod you see sticking out the top. Try raising the forks all the way up & lowering as far down as they'll go multiple times. Sometimes it'll free up the valve. If it refuses to lower all the way after repeated raising/lowering , the cylinder is going to have to be removed & taken go a hydraulic shop.
I just reread your last post- you replaced the hose to the cylinder that's stuck halfway up? How did you support the carriage when you removed the hose?
Hi I went to look. It has 1 large cylinder in the middle. I replaced the hose that connects to the very bottom of that cylinder. Inspected the cylinder no dents. Check the rollers if that's where the hoes goes around on top and it seems to be ok. Is the valve you're speaking of internal or external on the cylinder?
Thank you for the reply. I'm not certain of the terminology regarding standard free Lyft Etc. I'm going to go take another look regarding the cylinder position and maybe take a picture. I'll check and get back. Thanks again.
What style of upright fo you have, standard, free lift, triple or quad? Depending on the style, there might be a valve in the bottom of the front center cylinder (if yours has one) which has gone bad, a cylinder may have become dented, preventing the bottom packing from passing or there may be something wrong with the rollers on your carriage.
It was working fine then stopped halfway down. I noticed the leaky hose and replaced it. Refilled the hydraulic tank. Forks still not going down past the halfway point.
Did they go down fully before the hose replacement?
