Discussion:
error code flashing e-34

We have a CAT P5000 forklift in the shop with a nissan engine(propane) and it is constantly flashing code e-34. Checked with local Cat dealer, says it is an overheating code but the temp gauge is always normal. Checked all wiring/fuses and connections, looked ok, tried the procedure given by dealer to clear code but it didn't work.
Could not find a temp sensor in the cylinder head.
Anyone have any idea what to look for?

ddrr, check your ignition coils

yeah what edward said... try the pedal dance
if that doesn't work then you will have to clear the codes using the diagnostic tool or laptop

clear the codes. either foot pedal dance or laptop/software. would have been better to start your own thread, with your error code, it would get more notice.

ignition signal has not been continuously genererated while the engine is running.
detect electric current in an ignition coil circuit, judge abnormal ignition interval and make mil go on

You have the 4 cylinder engine. If this is true, E-34 is actually an ignition system error. It most likely has occured due to a misfire at some point in time. I'd start by checking the plugs and then move into other ignition system components (coils and their wiring).

Fact of the week
In March 2002, identical twins in Finland died on the same day in similar accidents within hours of each other. A 70-year-old man was killed by a truck while cycling; hours later, his twin brother was killed by a truck on the same road, about a mile away, before the family had been informed of the first accident.
