Discussion:
drive motors working but one not accelerating

we did a brakes overhaul for the lift , but after we reinstalled both
drive systems into the chassis and plugged back in all the connectors
we turned on the lift and depressed the accelerator pedal. both wheels started to turn but the right side wheel accelerated and the left side wheel stayed at one speed. what should I look at?we verified that the sensors were good and that the motor clutch was working.

Hi again. We finally got a chance to recheck the lift. Even though we had put the left side encoder on the right side and the right side one on the left side, the lift still remained slow on the left side no matter if the lift was driving straight or turning.
What we did notice was that the lift turned slower clockwise than when it was turning anti-clockwise.
I will look into the steer position sensor as you suggested.
thanks

If you are not getting codes, It probably is. It could be the steer position sensor also.

Thanks Brewski.I actually took the encoder from the right side and
exchanged it with the one from the left side.
Strangely we observed that the lift accelerated equally with both wheels.the operator told me later that the lift worked well for several hours then went back to having one wheel moving very slow compared to the other.I have not checked it out as yet, but will update my info when I do. Could it still be the encoder?

Sounds like a speed encoder problem. Check the encoder plug and socket and make sure the pins and sockets are locked in place and making connection.
