Crank-No start, TCM forklift w/ Nissan K21 LPG engine

Hey all,

Trying to diagnose a crank-no start issue on my company's forklift (TCM FHG18T2L). It's run strong since I started (at least 1.5 yrs) but maintenance has been completely neglected for at least a few years.

We recently changed the battery (to a regular automotive battery). After changing the battery, we are unable to get the forklift to achieve ignition. Cranks, no spark.

I'm a little out of my experience diagnosing this forklift. My scan tool doesn't recognize the ECM and I'm unsure if it's an issue with my specific scanner or if I need a more specialized computer? I'm unsure if it's throwing any codes, but due to the fact the coils have connection on the ground and hot sides, I'm fairly sure I can conclude the ECM isn't sending a signal.

Grounds are in good condition. Battery is new. Spark plugs are gapped correctly (though old).

Unsure where to go from here. Do I need to find a TCM or Nissan forklift scan tool? Could it be an issue with a fuel system or oil system sensor? Do I need to disassemble and clean the solenoid valve or vaporizer?

Any advice would be appreciated.

My Tacoma has an issue- where after disconnecting the battery, the ECU forgets the air/fuel adjustments that keep it running smoothly and it has to relearn- if the intake becomes dirty/too much buildup over time. I haven't ruled out this possibility?
I did check all the fuses- everything was good.
I'll have to check that wire for voltage when cranking over. After grounding the spark plug against the battery, it refused to spark when cranking over. When I did check the ignition coil signal wire, I'm pretty sure it read that it was cleanly grounded the entire time. I will have to test again and look for the +2v when cranking.

If you are sure that there is no spark then I would assume that you might have issues with a cam or crankshaft sensor. Have you checked all the fuses in the box? You should have battery voltage and ground on 2 wires of you coil connectors and a signal wire that would have 2 volts when cranking and 1 volt when running. I'm not sure how old your unit is but I had one that would get the coils hot and melt them. There was a diode in the wiring harness itself that was bad. And it is located inside the loom of the harness going to the coils. Check for signal wire voltage and see if that is okay first. Very strange that this happened after a battery replacement though.
