Clark C500-HY40:
Clutch

Hi all! I'm Diego from Argentina! I have a clarklift model C500- HY40 glp, manual gearbox and oil bath clutch (HYDRACOOL, I think)
The problem is that the clutch slips, it works but in a small inclination it does not go up. I want to replace the clutch.
My question is, does anyone know if the clutch shaft is removable, type '' quick change '', if so, would someone have a picture of the manual to see?
Thank you very much

Well! I tell you that I was able to disassemble the clutch just like what Kasley told me, only that in order to pull the pressure plate and the hub out together, I had to compress the pressure plate by using three 3/8 - 16 bolts placed in holes on the pressure plate through the pressure springs. Without this, the legs of the plate avoided disassembly since the assembly (hub plate) was larger than the inspection cover that I removed. I had to do the same thing to reassemble the pressure plate and hub.
Thanks Kasley!!!
Jajajajajaja did you know that your happen !!! but I needed to see!
Yes, I have seen that metallic baby soothers on the differential, behind the tower, near where the transmission hydraulic is filled.
I'm already at my house, tomorrow morning I will try what you have said!
I'll tell you tomorrow!
Oh man! sorry to hear about the hydraulic oil bath!
OK so one more thing, some trucks had a removable input shaft on the transmission.
Look on the front of the differential housing. There are two metal cup type plugs.
One is facing the front of the truck and is above the other one. Take the one on top off and look into the differential housing. You should see the end of a shaft. This is the input shaft. It has a threaded hole in it and a snap ring that holds it in. you can take the snap ring off and pull the shaft out just enough to clear the clutch. DO NOT PULL THE SHAFT ALL THE WAY OUT. JUST ENOUGH TO GET THE SHAFT CLEAR of the clutch and pressure plate.
Put a bolt in the threaded hole before you take the snap ring off so you don't drop the snap ring into the diff housing. the threads in the shaft are 3/8-16 I believe.

Good luck.

Indeed, it is a 355 series truck. This does not have the pedal supports on the large clutch cover.
I could see that the hub did not have 6 bolts on the transmission, it only has 4 bolts. Anyway I kept going, it was not possible to push the pilot shaft. It seems that this model does not have a sliding pilot shaft.
If I could see that when starting the truck the hydraulic pressure pushes the crapodin against the pressure plate, then my face was filled with hydraulic fluid!
The spring that brings the fork to the transmission is not original, perhaps that spring is very small and the hydraulic pressure acts on the clutch and causes it to slip.
I don't know how to insert photos.....
I did make one error, after removing the six bolts the drive hub needs to be slid forward away from the transmission and it stays in the clutch and you pull the clutch disc, the pressure plate and the drive hub out together

Hello Kelsey !! Thank you very much for the information! I will remove the top cover and verify what you have said, I will put photos so that no one else has the same problem!
If this is a 355 series truck the bell housing should have a large cover on top that can be removed. If I remember correctly the brake and clutch pedal pivot on some bearings on this top cover. Take the cover off, if the input shaft has a removable drive on it there will be 6 bolts holding the splined hub to the input shaft.
There is also a Allen head screw that holds the pilot shaft into the pilot bearing. Loosen that set screw and push the pilot shaft toward the transmission, remove the six bolts that hold the splined hub to the input shaft and remove the hub. Then all you have to do is remove the bolts from the pressure plate.

From Admin - Hello Diego, sorry to see that you have not had a response yet. Perhaps you will get one soon, if not suggest you try again.
Cheers
