Discussion:
Clark EPM 30L possible hydarulic problem

I have a very old Clark battery forklift EPM30L. It was working fine up until recently but now it will move backwards and forwards fine, but lifting the forks up and tilting is very slow. I'm guessing that possibly the hydraulic oil level is low. Does anyone know how and where I check this and top the level up? Pretty please?

The hydraulic reservoir holds at least a few gallons. So if the one you're looking at is very small, it may be the brake fluid reservoir. If you pull the floorboards, follow the big hose from the hydraulic control valve, should lead you to the reservoir

Thanks Triggs...the batteries are good and holding charge well.
I can lift but it is just very slow. I noticed that when I use slide lever, it can put a little hydraulic oil on the floor so I wonder if that has been happening for a while, which it has, then the level has finally gotten so low. In the column under the steering wheel there is a small oil reservoir tank....could this be the filling point?

Always start with battery, under load the voltage shouldn't drop more than 20% of nominal voltage. Then, if you can lift without the pump making a crunching noise, the level should be ok. If only the hydraulics are moving slow your motor/pump may be failing. Not familiar with that specific model but I would guess hyd fill port would be along one of the sides of the unit. Hope that helps some
