Xtreme Manufacturing LLC has increased the lifting capacity of a new rough-terrain telehandler to a rating of 70,000 lb. (31,500 kg) from 65,000 lb. (29,250 kg).

Xtreme displayed the telehandler as XR6538 during the 4-8 March ConExpo-Con/Agg trade show in Las Vegas and now, after additional in-house engineering work, lists it as XR7038.

Xtreme says the unit is the largest-capacity rough-terrain telehandler manufactured in North America. Xtreme targets mining, bridge construction and pipe-handling applications for this telehandler.

The XR7038 weighs 115,000 lb. (51,750 kg) unloaded, has a lifting height of 38 ft. 2 in. (11.6 m) and a Cummings 300 hp Tier 4 Final engine. Each tyne weighs more than 2,000 lb. (900 kg). The telehandler is available with an open cab, a closed cab with heat or a closed cab with heat and air conditioning. Features include a back-up camera, integrated boom-lift point and advanced operator controls.

In October, Las Vegas-based Xtreme agreed to its staged acquisition of aerial lift manufacturer Snorkel from its owner Tanfield Group PLC of Washington in England's Tyne and Wear County. Snorkel International Holdings was formed as a new entity; Xtreme owns 51% and Tanfield has 49%.
