Wisconsin Lift Truck has won an order from Ariens Company in Brillion, Wisconsin, to provide Jervis B. Webb Company's SmartCart automatic guided cart (AGC) system.

The SmartCart AGC assembly system, which is integrated with Ariens' production assembly equipment, has increased production of the IKON riding mowers by 64%.

With this upgrade, Ariens will have seven assembly stations that provide a stable and accurate production flow, coupled with real-time productivity tracking. The SmartCart AGC system, joined with Ariens special assembly fixtures, allows Ariens to improve employee ergonomics with adjustable height controls while maximising operator efficiency. By having the SmartCart AGC automatically deliver the riding mower to each station, the operator is no longer required to manually push the assembly from station to station.

"One of the benefits Jervis B. Webb's SmartCart AGCs offer is ultimate flexibility. Being able to customise and quickly modify the guidepath with minimal downtime adds value to the system," says Ariens director of manufacturing Jon Hanson. "Both Wisconsin Lift Truck's strong customer support and Webb's automated materials handling expertise played a key role in our decision to go with SmartCarts."

Ariens is a privately owned and operated corporation focused on outdoor products for both consumers and professionals. Established in 1933, the company manufactures original outdoor power equipment under the Ariens, Gravely, Sno-Tek, Countax and Westwood brands.

Wisconsin Lift Truck, a member of Wolter Group LLC, is one of the largest materials handling distributors offering sales, service, parts, rentals and training for a range of equipment, including forklifts, pallet trucks, aerial lifts, railcar movers, industrial cleaning equipment and warehouse equipment.

Jervis B. Webb Company is a subsidiary of Daifuku North America Holding Company, which is a leading developer of materials handling technology such as automatic guided vehicles (AGVs), automated storage and retrieval systems (AS/RS), conveyors, baggage handling systems, bulk handling systems, cleanroom systems and airport maintenance services.
