A six-week wellbeing and weight loss challenge for warehouse workers and truck drivers in Australia, has returned staggering results with participants reporting an average weight loss of 3.28kg and 75% reporting an improvement in their overall quality of life.
The challenge, conducted with a limited sample of 20 staff from Australia Post and Linfox, was put forth by non-profit group Healthy Heads Trucks & Sheds which is focused solely on improving the health and welling of those working in warehousing, logistics and transport across the country.
“Because of the nature of their work, truck drivers and warehousing team members face challenges such as limited access to nutritious meals, long hours spent on the job and low levels of physical movement and exercise, which can all contribute to poor health outcomes,” Healthy Heads says in a statement.
Participants were provided with nutritionally-balanced, pre-prepared meals, including snacks they could take to work, exercise guidance and underwent medical examinations before and after the challenge.
Healthy Heads chief executive officer Naomi Frauenfelder says the challenge highlights the significant benefits truck drivers and warehousing team members could gain from following a healthy diet.
