Toyota Industries Corporation is hoping to achieve domestic forklift sales of 28,200 units in 2003, a four percent increase on its 2002 figures.
Toyota last year posted sales of 27,119 units, a slide of 6.3 percent from the 2001 level, according to a Jiji Press article.
The company said it hoped to command 42 percent of the Japanese market in 2003, an achievement which would surpass its previous high of 41.2 percent, set in 2002.
Toyota predicted the Japanese forklift market would grow 1.7 percent to 67,000 units in 2003, despite the market shrinking 7.5 percent to 65,888 units in 2002.
