Returning to their core business of designing and building explosion proof forklift equipment, Sichelschmidt has completed an extensive reorganization of their manufacturing capabilities. "The increasing cost of doing business forced us to take these drastic measures", Mr. Ralf Sichelschmidt said. Closing the German manufacturing plant and streamlining production in two new locations allows us to remain competitive for years to come. The new production facilities are located near Vienna, Austria and Waalwijk, The Netherlands. Sichelschmidt maintains their World headquarters and European marketing and sales office in Wetter, Germany, while Global Marketing and Sales (excluding Europe) are now under the supervision of Servolift LLC in the United States. "We feel confident that the changes made will benefit everybody and we look forward to providing our customers with shorter lead times and competitive pricing as the year moves on".

This recognition lead to the US EX certification of the Sichelschmidt walk behind line for Class 1, Division 1, Groups C&D explosion hazardous areas in 2000. This was followed in 2003 by an EE certification for Class 1/2/3, Division 2, Groups D&G hazardous areas. These lines were added to the complete line of IEC certified line of EEx equipment for the use in Zone 1/21, 2/22 which Sichelschmidt has sold since 1960.
