Enhanced productivity, class-leading durability and exceptional comfort and safety have all been built into the new DP/GP IC-powered
Cat® lift trucks - making them among the most sophisticated and durable handling workhorses available with some of the lowest lifetime costs.
Downtime has been reduced to an absolute minimum on the updated diesel and LPG-powered range with a variety of features. The previous analogue display, for example, is replaced by a new digital version that not only warns truck drivers if an unexpected fault occurs but also provides error codes to ensure an engineer brings the right parts with them, keeping repair times down. An engine timer, meanwhile, keeps track of hours worked, providing a countdown that helps fleet managers schedule regular maintenance in as efficiently as their operation allows.
All of the diesel engines are rugged industrial units that have been designed for long life and simple maintenance, raising uptime and reducing servicing costs. Gear wheels, for example, are used instead of a can-belt, doing away with the need for the regular replacement of such items.
Further enhancing the durability of the updated DP/GP range is a new design of bush-mounted rear axle that improves the service life of this very important lift truck component.
The new trucks also incorporate LED work lights as standard, which can last for the entire life of the vehicle, removing the chance of a sudden failure putting the truck out of service at a critical moment.
The LPG-powered models all come with electronic engine control as standard which makes for more sophisticated regulation of the fuel injection process, resulting in better fuel economy as well as smoother, quieter performance. Electronic control is also an option on diesel-powered models.
Comfort is also given a boost by a modified shape of overhead guard, set slightly higher than previous models to give truck operators greater internal space, making cab entry and exit easier.
An optional high-visibility overhead guard can be specified to replace the standard longitudinal steel bar design with a solid steel plate incorporating a transparent section made of polycarbonate and glass. This innovative design not only gives improved visibility when working with loads at height but also protects drivers from any small parts that might fall from the racking and otherwise find their way through a standard overhead guard - all while offering superior strength to traditional steel bar designs.
Safety is also advanced by a special backup handle situated on the rear right cab upright. Included as standard across the whole range, this provides an ergonomic grip for the operator to hold onto when twisted around in his seat for reversing without any part of his hand falling outside the safety cell. An additional horn button in the handle, meanwhile, means that should he need to alert an errant pedestrian in his way, the driver does not need to move his hand or take his eyes off the direction of travel in order to sound the alarm.
The Presence Detection System (PDS) continues to be standard on the new trucks. This uses a seat switch to ensure the operator is correctly seated before allowing access to the truck's hydraulic functions, preventing the risk of accidents that might otherwise result from the driver trying to control the truck while standing up in the cab - or even from the aisle.
Both overspeed and load weight indicators can be featured in the new onboard display, which means drivers can't push the limits of safety without realising it, and an operator PIN access code can be used to make sure that only authorised drivers can start the truck up in the first place.
Available with lift capacities of 1.5, 1.8, 2.0, 2.5, 3.0 and 3.5 tonnes - and with a special compact variant of the 2.0 tonne version for applications where space is particularly tight - there's a model in the updated DP/GP line-up to suit the needs of every application. It's a wide range that offers what today's businesses really need from their handling equipment: a durable, high-performance workhorse that is easy and safe to operate, protecting both the user's investment and their people.
The new DP/GP trucks are just part of a wide array of top quality materials handling solutions offered by
