Final preparations are under way for ProMat 2011 and collocated Automate 2011 on 21-24 March in Chicago's McCormick Place. ProMat exhibits are located in the facility's south hall, and the Automate displays are in the north hall.

The Material Handling Industry of America (MHIA) of Charlotte, North Carolina organises the biennial ProMat showcase for the materials handling and logistics industries.

For more than 700 ProMat exhibitors, the hours for the 300,000 sqft (27,000 sqm) trade show floor are 10 am to 5 pm for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and 10 am to 3 pm on Thursday. Three solution-specific centres on the show floor focus on solutions for manufacturing and assembly, fulfillment and delivery, and information technology.

Jointly, the ProMat and Automate trade shows present keynote addresses on successive days. Tom Ridge, first US secretary of homeland security, speaks at 8:45 am on 21 March, and Ron Diftler of the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration and Marty Linn of General Motors Corp speak about the collaborative and technology-transfer development of Robonaut 2 at 8:45 am on 22 March.

The concurrent ProMat educational conference includes sessions on improving operational productivity and visibility in manufacturing, distribution and in the overall supply chain. The program includes two educational tracks and 80 educational sessions.

The US Department of Commerce designated ProMat 2011 as an official international buyer program event that provides matchmaker services for interested buyers and sellers through an international business centre. Specialists will provide expert counseling.
