A four wheel drive articulated fork lift, the TX4-300, is the latest addition to the TX Series at Taylor Machine Works. The 132-inch wheelbase TX4-300 has a rated capacity of 30,000 pounds at 24-inch load center. Designed and built specifically to overcome the challenges of rough and undeveloped working surfaces, the TX4 also incorporates the innovative and performance-proven features of the TX Series introduced by Taylor in 2007.
Front and rear drive axles are heavy-duty planetary axles bolted to the chassis with hypoid ring gear and pinion. Power is provided by a Tier-certified 6-cylinder 190-horsepower electronic turbocharged, charge air after-cooled diesel. Completing the power train is a four-speed, fully reversing, modulated powershift transmission with inching and standard Automatic Powershift Control. The rugged chassis utilizes a two-piece joint providing superior strength and mobility between the front and rear sections. The manual forward-tilting cab is standard and is mounted on an all-welded tubular sub-platform.
The rated capacity of the TX4-300 remains constant regardless of degree of articulation. Whether oriented straight or at full steer, the capacity rating is 30,000 pounds at 24 inch load center.
The TX4-300 incorporates the performance-proven features of the entire TX Series to enhance service accessibility, componetry performance, operator performance, and productivity. The all-welded steel chassis can stand up to the most demanding tasks. Large capacity fuel and hydraulic tanks are integrated into the chassis. A rugged yet light-weight rolling engine hood, swing-away side doors, easily accessible battery box, easy hydraulic tank access, and tilting cab platform assure rapid and easy access for routine and special maintenance. Central lubrication points are standard. The electrical junction box is conveniently mounted under the cab with reset breakers and sealed electrical connectors. All wiring is color and number coded.
The standard TICS (Taylor Integrated Control System) utilizes J1939 CANbus technology. As a result hard-wiring needs are reduced and access to controls and performance data has been significantly expanded. An instrument panel mounted control monitor replaces the analog gauges and meters with displays providing standard operating data. Many operational functions and capabilities are defined and adjusted through the TICS system. Information related to performance and maintenance needs, electronic diagnostic functions including fault code history, and built-in shutdown system for engine and transmission protection are additional resources available through TICS.
The standard cab includes many ergonomically designed features to increase operator performance and operational ease thereby providing enhanced productivity. Interior room in the cab has been expanded. The standard adjustable air suspension seat can be readily positioned for maximum operator comfort. It can rotate (15 degrees left and 20 degrees right) and includes arm rests, an orange anti-cinch seat belt, and OPS (operator presence switch). The standard electric joystick control provides fingertip control for smooth, precise handling; joystick components can be serviced separately. The two cab doors include sliding glass panels. All glass is tinted, and front and rear windshield wipers are standard. The instrument panel on the T-shaped dash tilts down for access. Reset circuit breakers are used instead of fuses. The steering wheel tilts and the electric roll shift control and parking brake control are easily accessed. The transmission is controlled through the standard APC (Automatic Powershift Control). The vast glass area and truck design ensure excellent visibility front and rear and to each side. The operator gains access to the cab on self-cleaning, anti-slip steps. Three point access- egress is standard.
The ULTRA -VU mast is rugged. Lift chains are hidden within the mast rails and visibility is excellent. Lowering control is pressure compensated and a manual emergency lowering valve system is standard. The heavy-duty carriage features cast nylon side-thrust pads and greaseable shielded main rollers. Pin mounted forks provide full width adjustment.
The hydraulic system features a newly designed main hydraulic valve with gear-type pumps and sectional control valves. Manual override controls are provided on hydraulic accessory sections. The innovative cooling system includes a three-section bolted radiator, four coolers, high performance 7-blade pusher fan, and engine-mounted sealed fan shroud for maximum air flow through the coolers.
The TX4-300 and the entire TX Series include the durability and dependability that have been Taylor traditions for more than 80 years. Through the Taylor world-wide dealer network and the Sudden Service, Inc. after-market parts and service operations, Taylor customers can be assured consistent and reliable support will be readily available to keep their Taylor fork lifts on the job providing the productivity needed for improved bottom-line performance during many years of service.
